Your Flowers

All these pretty people
shining like stars
behind storm clouds;

looking for flowers,
looking from above,
but only seeing gray.

And then You come
to save the world,
to take away the pain.
You melt away the clouds, and now
all they see is rain.

So You shine, You shine, You shine the sun,
and dry the rain away.
Pretty as they are,
the stars stay in bed all day.

At night they gaze upon the gardens
You have spread across the world,
but all they see is darkness;
all they see is darkness now.

So I will wake up
early in the morning,
and I’ll smile at Your flowers;
and I’ll make up some oatmeal
because I’ve got no super powers.

And so the stars can finally see the beauty,
You will set the world on fire.
